An eleven-month-old baby, Nehal, is fighting for his life at the Apollo hospital in Delhi.
Nehal is in need of an immediate liver transplant and it is only a question of raising the money for the surgery.
For the parents of Nehal, it has been a long and painful battle. They waited for years to have a baby and are now struggling to save their baby's life.
Nehal should be playing with toys, but he is surrounded by his medical reports.
He has been suffering from chronic jaundice since he was born. The liver transplant he needs has to be done immediately.
''Unless he is treated very quickly, it is unlikely for him to survive,'' says Subhash Gupta, a surgeon.
This is a verdict that Nehal's mother cannot believe. She says Nehal was born after years of fertility treatment for which she borrowed Rs 15,000, money she never regrets spending.
However, now the family has run out of funds. Nehal's father will be donating 30 per cent of his liver for the transplant. Doctors say that liver regenerates and that both will be fine with post operative care.
But this father needs help. As a salesman, he earns Rs 6000 a month.
''We need Rs eight to 10 lakh. We cannot give an exact. For the post operative medication to prevent infection for life, we also need Rs 8000 a month,'' says Dr Anupam Sibal, a senior consultant at Apollo.
Doctors say Nehal's condition is critical. He needs the treatment urgently and his parents appeal to you to help as soon as and with as much as you can.
